Birthday Wishes To Myself

life is like a bud,
opening up.
full of new possibilities.
but not for me.
because i've given up on getting what i want.
i've finally learned my lesson.
after 14
LONG
years of heartache.
severe disappointment syndrome
is
NOT
a pleasant feeling to have.
in fact,
it sucks.
but,
i should be used to it by now,
i guess.
because nothing goes right for me,
not even when i wish
on my 15 birthday candles.
happy birthday to me.
but,
why?
because it wasn't happy.
